Right now would be a very, very good time to lobby J K Rowling to stand as an MP. Wherever Andy Burnham forces a by-election, beg her to stand.

Burnham is just a pretty face stuck on the usual multicultural-lovely-dovey-other-people's-money drivel. Rowling, if you haven't twigged already, is Minerva McGonagall.

Rowling has principles. And she has guts. She is a wonderfully talented storyteller. She is a very intelligent, capable woman and she has invaluable experience of dealing with celebrity and vast sums of money. She created Beira's Place when the Scottish Government stood by and let a man run the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre. She paid for everything. She made it happen.

She has nothing to prove and I'm sure she doesn't want the job. Which makes her fantastically qualified to do it.

She has been poor, she has been a single parent, she has built a global empire and she is magnificently patriotic. She negotiated brilliantly with Hollywood Studios - no mean feat - and insisted that all the Harry Potter films were shot in the UK with British actors bringing millions if not billions into the UK film industry. She has paid HUGE sums in tax and beyond that given tremendous amounts of money to charity.

She is pretty much the only sane Labour supporter anyone has heard of. She can tick the box 'Female Leader' which, strangely, somehow or other, Labour have failed to tick. She probably doesn't support much of the current parliamentary manifestation of the Labour party, but that also counts in her favour.

Short of blood on the streets - 50/50 chance of that - we are stuck with Labour till 2029. So get her in Parliament and lean very hard on your local MP to make her PM. Your MP probably hates her because she doesn't buy Islington bullshit, she cares for working class people and she doesn't indulge male perverts. But when they realise she is the best chance they have to keep their jobs in 2029 they will fall in line because they are politicians. She isn't. Which is why she is our best hope.

She might even get re-elected.
